Nursing home for dogs

December 1st, 2008 by Leslie

Japan has taken pet love to a whole new level. Due to Japan's aging pet population, they've come up with a revolutionary idea to take care of senior pets.

In June 2007, The Soladi Care Home for Pets, a nursing home was established for man's best friend in Tochigi, Japan.

For $800/month, elderly pooches have 24/7 veterinary care, physical therapy  and special diets created by veterinarians to make them more comfortable in their twilight years. They also have playtime with rescued puppies to keep physically active and mentally occupied. (I like that idea a lot!)

The care home can accommodate 20 dogs at a time and family visits are encouraged.

I wonder if they have programs like 'day excursions' and movies?

I have to admit this idea is really cute.

Hi Aunty Leslie! I thought I'd let you know that my dad, my aunty and I rescued a kitty last Friday.

Here's the story I left on BL's blog:
Meanwhile, I was busy rescuing a poor cat that my dad found by his car. He dropped the cat off at my house and we had to scramble. Poor kitty cat had a busted foot, too. Good thing she had a microchip. My aunty and I took her to the vet to have them scan for the chip and then we dropped her off at the Humane Society for someone to pick her up.

Well, if you can afford it, no problem. I like seeing the full life cycle of my pets, from active babies to quiet old pets. I'm not around 24/7 for them, but enough to watch after their needs. If you have a pet you cannot really be with much, I'd say this is a good idea.
